What a Slacker!!!

"So Jess, when are you going to update the blog???" I have heard this statement from friends and family a kajillion times and have had enough. Time to devote more time to my blog!

OK..here goes, quick and painless re-cap:

1. When we left off, I was headed into surgery and requesting prayers...how rude of me not to update! Turns out the miscarriage was completely natural. I had a D&C, and Dr. McD went in with cameras to check things out. My uterus appears to be extremely thin on the right side, and may not be strong enough to carry a baby. Charles and I are taking this news as closure in the baby making department. I am not willing to put my life at risk! Stay tuned for an announcement later in the week!

2. Charlie was Spiderman for Halloween and had such a great time Trick or Treating. He was getting over a cold though, so we only hit half of the neighborhood. He still demands to wear his spidy mask with his Spiderman P.J.'s

Take a look at my little super hero!

Handing out candy with Daddy

3. Charlie's vocab skills are soaring! He cracks me up on a daily basis...he is just so darn witty! Sentences are becoming very clear, and he is extremely intuitive! Here are a few of my recent favorite Charlie quotes:

- After running around playing "gymnastics class" he sits in the rocking chair, looks at me and says "I'm tired, I need to take a break!"

- While pretending to serve me food and drink he starts to walk out of the room... I ask him where he is going and he says "I'm gonna get you a Coke!"

- On the way upstairs for a nap he stops, reaches for me to pick him up and says "I'm so tired, I can't walk!"

- My pet name for Charlie is Boo Boo Chicken, I called him this the other day and he looked at me sternly and said, "Mommy, I am not Boo Boo Chicken, I am Spiderman!"

What a goofball!

Just thought I would share these silly pics...Charlie is a Cereal junkie. Here he is drinking the milk after polishing of his cereal.

All Done!!!

A Prayer Request

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions for Charles and I... on Tuesday August 30th I took a positive pregnancy test. The nine days to follow were complete bliss! It was if we had made it through the drama of the past year and were finally able to enjoy a little blessing.

On Thursday, September 8th I woke up with really bad cramping and bleeding. I knew that this was inevitably the end of my 3rd pregnancy. The past week has proven to be extremely exhausting and confusing! Many rounds of blood work have been taken and we have had to take it one day at a time. We had an ultrasound this afternoon and have finally reached a verdict. There looks to be a right ectopic (tubal) pregnancy along with fluid and other matter in the uterus. I will go in for a D & C and laproscopic surgery tomorrow at 4:15pm. Dr. M will most likely be removing the right fallopian tube. This means that natural pregnancy will no longer be an option for Charles and I.

Here are our requests....
1. Pray for God's hand to be present during my surgery tomorrow.
2. Please pray for peace and understanding during this trying time.
3. Please pray for God to help us listen and to accept the plan he is unfolding for us.
4. Please pray for Charles' anxiety during this time...he is being such a strong rock for me right now! What a blessing.
5. Pray for family members and friends who are watching Mr. Charlie for us.

We are so blessed to have the family and friends that we do! I am overwhelmed with the support we have already received! God is so good...and with these wonderful people we are sure to make it through.

I feel a peace that comes only with Gods love at this moment!

Phillipians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ.

Love to you all!

BABY PALOOZA: A Celebration of Baby Boy Everett

A few weekend ago my friend Celeste and I threw a baby shower for the third member of our trio, Melissa...and her husband James.

We wanted to make sure the shower was filled with as much hilarity as our friendship. I think we achieved our goal! The food was mighty tasty as well

I did a repeat on the Snickerdoodle Cake that I made for Charles' birthday...yummy!

The full spread...we had to laugh at the amount of butter and cream cheese that we used through out our menu! So healthy! Hey...there is some fruit there :)

Melissa HATES shower games! In fact, I was told if we played "Guess the melted candy bar in the diaper" she would throw Celeste and I off the porch!
I also knew that there could be no touching of that precious belly...she has limits!

So this caused Celeste and I to become extra creative. We had to think about what would make Mel laugh.

Game 1: Frozen Fetus (thanks to my Aunt Terri)
Objective: freeze tiny plastic babies in ice cube trays. All party goers receive a baby cube when drink are poured and the first person to thaw out there tiny babe WINS! We used baby themed candy for prizes (Sugar Babies, Sour Patch Kids, etc...)

The Baby Mama...cheating!

Game 2: Baby Everett Potato Head (party fave!)

Objective: Using push pins and actual picture cut outs of Mom and Dad's facial features (eyes, nose, mouth, ears)...create the best Baby Everett Potato Head. This was hilarious! See below:

So scary...and funny!

Game 3: Diaper Dialect (no pictures taken)

Fill a basket with diaper and sharpies

Objective: Write funny sayings, words of wisdom, etc... on the diapers in order to make parents chuckle during late night diaper changes.

We were belly laughing while doing this...inside jokes were being slung left and right! So FUN!

Time for presents!!!

Good Daddy! Picking up the trash

In our gift basket we included a special treat for James...a Sasquatch Beef Jerky Stick (last minute grocery store find). Always fun to get a giggle out of Jamesy.

"I pull all nighters"

examining the loot!

Scrub a dub dub!

James...a bit overwhelmed :)

Game 4: Fashion a Diaper out of T.P. (Boys only)

Objective: Humiliate the men while we sit a laugh :)

Looks more like a diaper thong?!?

Easy access diaper?!?

Just the three of us :)

These girls make my heart happy! Don't know what I would do without them!

Best wishes to the new parents! We love you and can't wait to meet the new edition!!!

Love to you all!

Big Boy Bed!

On Monday we made a big change!

See this crib...

It's gone! Charles and I were DONE with the lets crawl out of our bed a bagillion times and try and break our other leg game!

So...Charlie and I went shopping and picked out some new bedding. He chose baseballs, soccer balls, and footballs...of course.

Charles had a wonderful time taking down the crib and putting up the bed. HAA!

Let's just say we both needed some space when all was said and done.

Finished product!

So proud of his big boy bed!

Story time in the new bed...

And (knock on wood) it is working! No more crawling out, and we are sleeping until a normal hour! PTL!

Love to you all!

Charlie's Birthday Weekend!

We began Charlie's birthday weekend bright and early Thursday morning. We did presents early morning before Daddy left for work.

Daddy bright and early with his birthday boy!

Presents from Mommy and Daddy

Charlie and his newest obsession...his bicycle!

(this is actually a y bike or balance bike...maybe he wont need a trike!)

When daddy returned from morning meeting we headed out to Imagine It! The Atlanta Children's Museum.

Charlie had a blast! What a wonderful place for toddlers to explore!

Trying out the farm equipment

Riding the tractor

Fishing for magnetic fishes

A little practice on the putting green

Future football star!

His true love....BASEBALL!

Playing on the sand table (so cool! the sand was moldable)

Checking out the giant erector set!

That evening we headed over to Mellow Mushroom for a birthday dinner! Namaw met us there for the celebration.

A balloon lady just happened to be at the restaurant...Charlie cleaned up with a dinosaur hat, a T-Rex, 3 swords and a holster!

modeling his holster

After dinner we headed to Target where Namaw spoiled her 2 year old grandson. We bought Charlie a Spiderman helmet for bike riding...he insists on wearing it the majority of each day! At least he is safe.

Sword fighting before bed

When we got home it was time for cake! This was a lovely yellow cake with a sour cream based chocolate icing! yummy!

blowing out the candles

Chocolate face...and tired eyes!

time to wash off the frosting!

Late night snuggles with the grumpy 2 year old! ha!

Mommy's turn!

On Friday evening my dad, Papaw, along with Uncle Dylan and Uncle Zeb, arrived in ATL. We headed to Taco Mac, Dylan's fave, and had a mess of wings!

On Saturday we had a birthday cookout at the house and then headed to the Braves vs. Diamond Backs game at the Tedd!

Daddy and Charlie talking baseball :)

What a great game! the braves dominated with an 8-1 win! There were 3 home runs and even a field streaker! Charlie had a blast...is it normal that my 2 year old will watch a whole baseball game?!? My endless supply of chocolate, juice and snacks may help a little ;)

We went to the pediatrician this morning for Charlie's 2 year check up. Here are the stats:

Height: 33 3/4 inches long - 25% (maybe he won't be tall like daddy)

Weight: 28.8 lbs - 73%

Head Circumference: 51cm - 98% (still hoping that means he is smart!)

Dr. M was very impressed with his vocabulary and ability to string sentences together. She says we have a very healthy boy...despite the fact that he sees 2 specialists already (neuro and ortho).

Charlie starts pre-school tomorrow! 2 days a week at the Wee School! Pray for no tears!

Love to you all!
