HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPPINS!

The story of the name "Poppins":

CR's dad is quite the organized fellow. So organized in fact that he brings a bag of necessities with him wherever he goes. This bag could contain a change of clothes, a few cigars, left over coupons to share, etc...

One afternoon while we still lived in "big yellow" (the condo). Poppins came over with yet again, a bag full of goodies. At that moment I used my quick wit to declare him as "Poppins" just like Mary Poppins. At any moment he could probably pull a lamp out of one of those little paper bags.

For Christmas my mother decided to upgrade the Poppins bag to a Tommy Bahama canvas bag. Now Poppins travels in style.

Happy Birthday Poppins! We love you very much and appreciate all that you do, especially for CR2!!!

Sunday Hike

On Sunday morning our little family decided to take advantage of the 60 degree weather and head to Kennesaw Mountain for CR2's first Hike!

We chose to do the 2 mile round trip hike because we weren't sure how the little man would behave. Let's just say that about half way up the trail CR2 conked out! Poor CR had to carry the left leaning dead weight for about 1/2 a mile.

Once we made it to the top we decided to find a grassy spot and have a little picnic. CR2 slept for most of this as well. We were excited when he finally woke up and was able to roll around, eat almost a whole banana, and enjoy the sunshine!

What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Next go around we will attempt the 6 mile hike. CR2 really enjoyed his ride in the fancy Kelty backpack (thanks Aunt Vonnie)!

Love to you all!

Things That Make Me Happy :)

CR2 trying to eat our fat cat Mischa

CR2 sporting a Love Monkey tee on Valentines day

Homemade Oreo Cookies

Father/Son Snuggle Time

First Ride in a Grocery Cart

And can you believe this little booger is 6 months old TODAY!?! Best 6 months of my life by far!

6 MONTH STATS:
19.1 LBS - 78%
26" - 60%
CR2 is growing like a weed, and is a healthy little boy! He has however developed excema and we will be purchasing some very expensive lotions and creams...GREAT! Dr. M says it is time to drop the crib to the lowest position and get rid of my VERY cute animal bumper :(
We have recently moved to a plush forward facing car seat, and as seen above are now riding in the grocery cart seat.
While in the waiting room at our 6 month check up this morning CR2 held himself in a standing position for the first time while playing with a very flashy table toy. What a big boy he is!
And when the mean old nurse came in with the needles, he didn't even cry until the 2nd stick. And the wimpering only lasted a few minutes.
We are very excited to have clearance to try some new foods i.e. meats, combinations, and some spices. In a few months we can try out some cubed table food and fun things like pancakes and waffles!
Half a year has flown by and we are so proud of our little man!

Rolling Machine!

So I am thinking that right about NOW would be the time to start baby proofing the house!

Today while doing my daily Exercise TV workout with Jackie Warner (the buff chick from TV's "Workout") I sat Charlie on his play mat. Now mind you, he has been rolling from front to back, and occasionally he would roll from back to front, but today was a different story.

As I was participating in some lovely squat moves my child rolled across the floor in front of me! I was so excited that I had to stop and do a little "my baby is awesome happy dance". I picked him up, gave him a hug, and placed him back on his mat.

So now while sweating it out in a side plank, CR2 maneuvers himself to the front of his mat, rolls to the TV, and starts messing with the speaker cords. That's when it hit me, this child is about to cut loose and I better get to work! I guess CR and I will have some shopping to do at Lowes this weekend!

I just pray that he is not as crafty as my little brother, Uncle Z! Early one morning when Z was 2 years old, he took a stool from the kitchen, unlocked the dead bolt, and was caught racing out of our neighborhood on a razor scooter. This child is now doing front flips on a snowboard! Watch out X games!

Love to you all!

Somethings Missing :(

I have to say that I am a VERY lucky girl. I have a husband that is not only my spouse, but my very best friend. When CR is gone I feel like I am missing my left arm, and it is kind of hard to go about my daily routine without my left arm!
CR left for Alabama last night on a business trip. He was originally going to be gone until Friday, but thank the lord, he has shortened the trip and will be back on Wednesday night. This little trip reminds me of how spoiled I really am! CR works from home, he rarely leaves on business, and we truly enjoy spending time together!

I know that allot of it was sleep deprivation from a rough weekend, CR2 + teething = restless nights, but I teared up yesterday afternoon when CR left. I missed relaxing on a Sunday night with my husband, I missed having a partner to help me change diapers etc..., I missed having a warm body next to me a night!

Time apart makes me realize how much I love my husband. Sure we bicker about the small stuff, who doesn't! But all in all I have the best friend I could ever ask for. 7 years...7 years in which we have endured long distance dating, hospital visits, some very rough days, a big move to Atlanta, a wedding, a birth, and a new home! And every single one of those days I have been able to count on CR.

Hurry home Daddy! We all miss you, even the cats. I just don't clean a litter box as well as you do! That reminds me, I need to go feed the cats! haha!
